Preface—What Has Been Shall Be

Isaiah’s method of prophesying is to use events from Israel’s past as a basis for predicting end-time events. Whatever set a historical precedent, in other words, may typify what happens at the end of the world. Thirty end-time events—occurring worldwide—reveal how ancient history repeats itself: “That which has been, it is what shall be, and that which has been done is what shall be done—there is nothing newunder the sun. The thing of which we say, See, this is new! has already been in olden times which were before us.“ (Ecclesiastes 1:9–10)
