Isaiah’s method of prophesying is to use events from Israel’s past as a basis for predicting end-time events. Whatever set a historical precedent, in other words, may typify something that happens at the end of the world. Thirty end-time events—which occur worldwide—reveal how ancient history repeats itself. As the writer of Ecclesiastes says, “That which has been, it is what shall be, and that which has been done is what shall be done—there is nothing new under the sun. The thing of which we say, See, this is new! has already been in olden times which were before us.“ (Ecclesiastes 1:9–10)
