Many metaphorical terms function as keywords that link together all parts of the Book of Isaiah. In addition to these terms’ literal meanings, they act as pseudonyms or aliases of (1) Israel’s God Jehovah; (2) his end-time servant David; and (3) the end-time king of Assyria. Forming mini-prophecies within Isaiah’s larger prophecy, they add another dimension to his end-time scenario.
